Paul Lukoff has practiced law in Delaware since 1971, almost exclusively as a jury trial lawyer, and has tried more than 100 cases to jury verdict. He is a member of the Delaware Chapter of The American Board of Trial Advocates, a former instructor in law courses at the University of Delaware and a past member of the Governor's Advisory Council for Exceptional Citizens. Paul's principal areas of concentration include occupational disease, premises liability, product liability and commercial and contract disputes.
Paul earned his law degree from the University of Texas in 1968 and his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware in 1965. He is admitted to practice before the courts of Delaware as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Paul was a director for many years of a mid-sized Delaware law firm before co-founding Wilks, Lukoff & Bracegirdle and is a former Delaware Assistant Public Defender. He also previously was employed for a number of years in the legal department of the DuPont Company, where he practiced in several diverse areas, including special litigation, real estate and corporate law.
Paul's recent experience includes:
- Representing a multinational petroleum company as defense counsel in toxic tort and serious personal injury cases arising out of manufacturing and refining operations.
- Defending a manufacturer against multiple toxic tort lawsuits brought in Delaware alleging that occupational exposure to benzene caused acute myelogenous leukemia.
- Representing the owner and operator of a tanker truck involved in a motor vehicle accident which resulted in five deaths and multiple serious injuries to occupants of another vehicle.
- Representing a national insurance company in connection with coverage issues and a bad faith claim arising out of its defense of a personal injury lawsuit resulting in a multi-million dollar verdict.
